Separate women battalion for Santhal Pargana soon: CM


    Ranchi, March 8: Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that a separate women battalion will be formed in Santhal Pargana with Dumka as its headquarters.

    Addressing a program conducted by Jharkhand Police on the occasion of the International Women Day in JAP-1, Das also said that the best women battalion of JAP-10 performing in Jaipur will be given a reward of Rs. 1 lakh.

    The CM said that the women in Jharkhand are talented and full of qualities, which need to be nourished. The state government is committed to uplift their lot and ensure their development.

    For this, the government has presented a separate gender budget within the budget of 2016-17. Forty-three percent of funds allocated for the ensuing budget will be spent for the women,” Das said.

    The CM flagged off Mahila Shakti Commando also on this occasion. Twenty well equipped armed women on scooty will keep an eye on women-related crimes. Shakti app has been started for the women enabling them to lodge a complaint with the police. He also flagged off 18 PCR vans on the occasion.

    Das said that the participation of women in the development of the state is important and the government is serious about their empowerment. Policemen Ranavansh Narayan Singh and Dilip Kumar were rewarded with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each for rescuing Anshuraj, a Class 10 student, from the clutches of his abductors.

    DGP D. K. Pandey also addressed the gathering, which was attended by a large number of police personnel.
