Jamshedpur, Dec 11: A seminar on ‘Save the country, save the Constitution’ was organized on Saturday at the Michael John Auditorium in Bistupur on the topic, ‘Problems and Solutions of Minorities.’ The seminar was presided by Shashi Kumar and conducted by Tohidul Hassan. The proceedings commenced with a one minute silence that was observed in memory of CDS General Bipin Rawat and his wife, other army personnel and farmers who died during the agitation.
Ravindra Prasad welcomed the guests. The preamble of the Constitution was recited by all present in the auditorium. The keynote speaker, social thinker and Magsaysay awardee Sandip Pandey said that every act of BJP was aimed at polarization of votes. He said that even today the Ganga-Jamuna culture was alive through the Hindu- Muslim divide. He said, “In foreign countries India is identified with Gautam Buddha but a section of people are hell-bent on erasing this image.”
Social thinker Shailendra said that the problem of minorities was not only his, but the problem of the entire nation. He urged the government to implement the recommendations of the Sachar Committee.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Baldev Singh, Shamim Ali and Gurdeep Singh. Niran Hernage, KK Tripathy, Vipin Thakur, Om Prakash Singh, Arun Singh, BN Verma, Suresh Prasad, Ganesh Ram, Nag Raju, Purabi Dutta contributed to the success of the program.
