Second phase polls conclude peacefully in West Singhbhum


    Chaibasa, Dec 2: The polling in the second phase of assembly elections in the state concluded peacefully at 3pm in rural moist belt while there was a brisk turnout in the urban region till 5 pm.

    The polls ended at 3 pm in Chaibasa constituency of West Singhbhum District on December 2. The polling percentage recorded at Jagnathpur was 76 %, in Majhgoan 72 percent, 62 in Manoharpur, 65 in Chaibasa and 65 percent at Chakradharpur.

    After the polling ended Assistant returning officer Somnath Bankira talking to the media persons said that, the elections were held in peaceful environment and not a single repulsive incident was reported. The best turnout was recorded from Maoist infested area of Saranda were 85 percent of voters casted their votes.

    Jagarnathpur assistant returning officer cum SDO Santosh Kumar said that it was first time in several years that the polling in west singhbhum was conducted peacefully with big of turnout specially in Maoist affected areas.

    After the conclusion of the second phase of election fates of 48 candidates of five assembly seats of west Singhbhum is closed in EVM Machines until the day of result declaration on December 23.

    EVM Machine were brought to Chiabasa after collection at cluster centers.
