Jamshedpur, May 25: Two years ago, the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry found itself entangled in a dispute over the celebration of its platinum jubilee. Former presidents, including RK Chowdhary, Nirmal Kabra, AK Srivastava, Suresh Sonthalia, and Ashok Bhalotia, raised their voices in opposition to the proposal of celebrating the platinum jubilee ahead of schedule. On the other hand, three former presidents, Muralidhar Kedia, Vijay Kumar Mehta, and Umesh Kanwatiya, advocated for the celebration to be held two years in advance.
In response to the growing dissent, Chamber President Vijay Anand Moonka convened a meeting of former presidents at Chamber Bhawan on Wednesday, May 24, two years ago, at 6 pm. The meeting aimed to address the concerns raised by Vice President (PRW) Mukesh Mittal, who publicly opposed the premature celebration of the Platinum Jubilee. Attendees included former presidents Vijay Kumar Mehta, Muralidhar Kedia, AK Srivastava, RK Chowdhary, Nirmal Kabra, Suresh Sonthalia, Ashok Bhalotia, Umesh Kanvatia, and Vice President (PRW) Mukesh Mittal. Unfortunately, Chamber President Vijay Anand Moonka’s father could not attend the meeting due to sudden illness.

During the meeting, the participants discussed a letter written by Mukesh Mittal to the Chamber President, which primarily focused on the decision to celebrate the Chamber’s Platinum Jubilee prematurely. Several significant points were raised during the discussion:
Firstly, the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry was established on November 28, 1950. According to this date, the term of the Chamber’s president spanned ten years. The Silver Jubilee was commemorated in 1976 under the leadership of Nagin Bhai Parikh, and the Golden Jubilee took place in 2001 under the guidance of Chandulal Lal Bhalotia.
Secondly, the Chamber’s 71st Annual General Meeting (AGM) was conducted on September 27, 2022, providing evidence that the Chamber had not yet completed 75 years of existence.

Thirdly, although the Constitution of India was approved by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949, it was officially implemented on January 26, 1950. Therefore, January 26, 1950, is considered the date of the Republic’s establishment in India, not November 26, 1949.
Furthermore, the All India Marwari Yuva Manch was founded in 1977 and officially registered in 1985. Using the registration year as a reference, the Akhil Bhartiya Marwari Yuva Manch celebrated its silver jubilee in 2010. Concerns were raised regarding Chamber President Vijay Anand Moonka’s oversight of these facts despite his longstanding association with the Marwari Yuva Manch and his current national-level position.
The premature celebration of the Chamber’s platinum jubilee would potentially create controversy for future generations, as it would cast doubt on whether to commemorate the Chamber’s centenary year in 2048 or 2050. In addition, the discussion revealed the dissatisfaction of Chamber Vice President (PRW) Mukesh Mittal, Vice President (Tax and Finance) Dilip Golcha, and Vice President (Industry) Mahesh Sonthalia with the behavior and decision-making process of Chamber President Vijay Anand Moonka. They expressed concerns about a group called PST (President, Secretary, Tracer), which appeared to make decisions without involving the other members of the Chamber.
Majority of business community well established their shops of various products in Bistupur and Sakchi etc. They train their staff how to cheat customer and bluff on mode of transaction. Attitude to evade taxes to government. Always demand concessions from government. Never pass on product discount to the customer. They insist cash payment. Demand 3% additional over billing amount on credit or debit card. This attitude is very close to urban terror activity is not a healthy sign in Jamshedpur. Crime and violence increasing due to bad culture of business community attitude.👍👍
