Saryu writes to CM for early action on corruption issues of erstwhile government

Jamshedpur, Jan 11: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Rai has written to chief minister Hemant Soren for immediate action on burning issues of corruption and scam carried out during the tenure of erstwhile chief minister Raghubar Das.
The letter states that it  has been two years since the Jharkhand government was formed under Hemant Soren leadership. During this period, some serious issues of corruption during erstwhile governments has been raised along with concrete evidence.
“You ordered the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to investigate the corruption in the sewerage-drainage scheme of Ranchi city, infamous as the Mainhart scam. An inquiry was ordered into the blanket scam. The talk of getting an inquiry into the loot of government money in the name of Momentum Jharkhand went ahead. I brought to the fore the evidence of the corrupt role of the Chief Minister of the previous government in the plight of the Jharnet 2.0 scheme. I also exposed the fraud of skill development and planning. On the occasion of State Foundation Day Celebrations-2016, I provided concrete evidence of loss of lakhs of rupees of government money due to the involvement of the then Chief Minister’s Secretariat in organizing Sunidhi Chauhan’s program and purchase of Toffee-T-shirts. You have also assured to conduct an ACB inquiry in this regard on the Assembly floor. In a case filed in the Jharkhand High Court in this matter, the advocates of the government are repeatedly assuring the hearing bench that the government is going to take action in this matter. But neither your assurance given in the Legislative Assembly has been fulfilled nor has the government implemented what was said in the High Court,” the letter states.

The letter remains that the order to get the ACB probe into the Mainhart scam happened a year ago.
“But this order was not made for investigation by doing FIR but for conducting preliminary inquiry. As far as I know, the Group of Inquiry Officers has done a thorough investigation and submitted its report several months back. The main accused and other culprits have been identified in the investigation. The culprits have also been given an opportunity to present their case. But the matter of registering an FIR and taking punitive action against them is gathering dust in the government file. All the evidence I have given to the government in this case is sufficient to take punitive action against the main accused and others, yet you have been ordered to conduct a preliminary inquiry in this. The government adopting a casual attitude in this matter. Due to the slowness of the government, the morale of those who commit serious crimes has increased,” letter adds.
