Saryu Rai voices concern over food grains supply system


    Jamshedpur, July 18: State food and civil supplies minister Saryu Rai said that within one year ration cards have been provided to maximum beneficiaries in 22 districts of the state.

    Indian government has also provided its approval. The numbers have not been achieved in Godda and Giridih district and within one week the work will be completed in remaining two districts.

    Talking to the mediapersons at his Bistupur residence on Monday, Saryu said, the persons who are not eligible and are left will be provided with ‘White Card’ and through this they won’t get wheat, rice etc. and can get kerosene oil.

    He also threatened the persons who are not eligible and are holding the card should surrender it. ‘A special camping will be launched after August 15 and the persons who are holding the cards will be strictly dealt with and will take back the ration they have taken till date and a case will be registered under bridge of trust’, added Rai.

    The department will be forced to register FIR against those beneficiaries, who will not return the ration card as well as the foodgrains they availed, he said.

    Over one lakh such beneficiaries have already returned their ration cards following our warning issued recently, he said adding that the distribution of ration cards among the new bonafide beneficiaries will start from tomorrow. 

    The department has started linking the beneficiaries with Aadhar Card to check ineligible beneficiaries from taking the benefits, he said adding that around 92 per cent population have the Aadhar cards in the state. 

    Minister Rai further said that due to transporters the ration is not being able to reach places on time. He said that all the ration transportation vehicles will be equipped with GPS by December 15 under which SMS will be received once the vehicle leaves the godown.

    Biometric system will be started in all the shops by August and the work will be done in three phase and cover 8-8 districts and by November all the districts will be covered.

    Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Rai said that new rations card distribution will start soon and ration will also be provided from August.

    For the same a training will be held for all the deputy commissioners along with district supply officer (DSO) at Ranchi on July 23. At the event they would be provided information regarding the card distribution and digitization.
