Rs 25/Litre subsidy on petrol: CM directs app for smooth rollout of scheme for poor from Jan 26

Rs 25 subsidy per litre of petrol for a maximum of 10 litres in a month

Ranchi, Jan 14: Chief minister Hemant Soren reviewed the preparation for rollout of the ambitious government schemes of providing subsidy of Rs 25 per litre of petrol for poor and lower middle class using two-wheelers from January 26 this year.

The chief minister directed officials of food supplies and consumer affairs department, transport department and NIC unit to prepare an app for smooth entry of beneficiary details so that direct benefit transfer of subsidy can be done swiftly.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has announced a discount of Rs.25 per liter on the purchase of petrol to the ration card holder families who have bikes, scooty or other two wheelers in the state from January 26, 2022, but are unable to fill them due to the rise in cost of petrol.

The Chief Minister told the officials that the poor, laborers, farmers and middle class families have been affected the most due to the increase in the price of petrol. It is the effort of the state government that the poor, laborers, farmers and middle class people in Jharkhand should be given relief from the rising inflation of petrol.

The Chief Minister directed the officials that all the departments concerned should develop a mechanism soon after making better coordination, so that  discount on the purchase of petrol to the eligible people from January 26 can be given.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rajiv Arun Ekka, secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Kumar Choubey, secretary, Food Supplies and Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department Himani Pandey, transport Secretary Kamal.Sone.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren directed all the officials present in the review meeting that the Food Supply Department, Transport Department and NIC should make an app soon so that people can deposit an amount of Rs 25 per liter in their bank accounts as subsidy on the purchase of petrol.

On the purchase of petrol up to a maximum of 10 liters every month, a subsidy of Rs 25 per liter to a maximum of Rs 250 should be given.
