Rotary Jamshedpur West inaugurates second pond in Dhanchatani village

Jamshedpur, May 24: As part of commitment for Water resource management, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West completed 2nd mega project by digging pond in Dhanchatani village. Earlier in the month of August first pond was completed and handed over to the villagers for their regular use.

On Wednesday second pond was dedicated to the villagers.

On this occasion Club President Nibha Mishra welcomed Chief Guest IPDG Rtn Pratim Banerjee and other guests present.

Project Convener Dr Amit Mukherjee briefed about the importance and need of this project in the village.  He thanked S S Ajmani and Dr Prabhakar Kamath for providing funds for this project.

Club President informed that the Project was undertaken to address the water needs of Dhanchatani village as water used to dry up by Feb-March every year.

By digging one pond last year in August, the water situation has already improved. We are hoping for much better results next year, she added.

President Mishra further said that apart from providing water the pond serves two major issues, too. Fishery project has started as four lakh fish spawns have been released in the pond. The water will also cater to the horticulture all around. Tree plantation around the pond will also be taken up soon.

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West is associated with the villagers of Dhanchatani since last four years.  RCJW has undertaken many projects for the development of this village like tree plantation, education, skill development training etc.

Also present on the occasion was Club Secretary Gurpreet Kaur Bhatia, Neeta Agarwal, Dr Sarbendu Sanyal, Swapna Sanyal, Rama Khanna, Sinchita Roy Choudhary, Amit De and others.

Chandan, Mithila Devi and other villagers of Dhanchatani village thanked the club.
