Rotary District 3250 Governor visits Jamshedpur West


    Jamshedpur, Nov. 7: Rotary District 3250 Governor Rtn. Dr Bindu Singh visited Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West as part of her official visits of the Clubs on Saturday.

    The official club visit is one of the most important events in the clubs calendar as the District Governor takes first-hand note of the club’s proceedings and visits important project sites run by the club.

    The day started with mandatory paper work and after completing that the District Governor, accompanied by President Rtn Rajender Sachdev, First Lady Sujata Sachdev, Secretary Rtn Alakananda and members of the Club visited Deeksha centre at Sonari, where she was given a traditional welcome.

    Singh took a look at functioning of Rotary Deeksha centre and also inspected Signature project of Clothes Bank in addition to interacting with ladies of adult literacy centre. She listened to the songs sung by Deeksha morning school children.

    Ladies of adult literacy class shard their new-found joy of being able to read and write and students of computer class told her, how the training they received at a minimum cost, helped them to find jobs in different sectors. She also saw the infrastructure of Sunday Medical Clinic.

    The Rotary District Governor had a close look at machines of sanitary napkin making, which were delivered only few days ago and bought under Deeksha Saheli’s extension Global Grant. Training session of women will start only after Deepawali.

    After visiting Deeksha, she was driven to Harisundarpur village, which was adopted with corporate partner JUSCO. She interacted with students of government schools and villagers and listened to their experiences of how the developmental work undertaken in past one year started affecting their lives.

    She appreciated the repair work of old school rooms which will be used for vocational training after the festive days. She had a look at the survey work done by Rotaractors. She also inspected the ongoing boring work for water, which will provide all day round tap water in school and village houses.

    After Harisundarpur, she visited children of Gurukul, a free residential school for the orphans and the underprivileged at village Sapra where she listened to the Sanskrit verses recited by children, watched their beautiful yoga postures and progress in academics.

    In the afternoon, at the Club Assembly at Hotel Jiva, the president along with board members showed her a presentation on the ongoing activities of the club as well as its future plans. Interactors and Rotaractors along with their moderators presented a brief account of their social activities as well as future plans.

    General Meeting with all Club members and guests from other Rotary Clubs was held in Hotel JIVA in the evening.

    President Rtn Rajender welcomed everyone and briefed the audience about welfare activities that took place in first four months of the year and also the wonderful experience of accompanying District Governor in Project sites that took place all throughout the day.

    Assistant Governor Rtn Pratim Banerjee encouraged everyone to keep up the good work and be a gift to the world. New member, Mr. Rajesh Sehgal was inducted with great enthusiasm.

    Dist Governor Rtn Dr Bindu Singh appreciated the work done by Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West, their future plans and shared her suggestions for improvement. She invited members to come in large numbers in Dist conference and listen to stalwarts of not only Rotary world but also from other fields. She urged members to continue their fights against illiteracy and make India literate.

    She also requested members to help Rotary Foundation so that Rotary World’s fight against Polio, poverty, mal nutrition, illiteracy and many other vices can continue and world become a better place to live in.

    Secretary Rtn Alakananda announced activities of next week. Vice-president Rtn Achinto thanked everyone for their support & cooperation. It was a wonderful day full of activities and learning.
