6000 people participate as run captivates the city

Jamshedpur, Nov 5: Tata Steel today organised the Tata Steel Jamshedpur Run-a-thon 2017. More than 6000 participants registered across the 3 categories of races, with over 800 runners from outside Jamshedpur. The event started from the Archery Ground, JRD Tata Sports Complex from 6:00 am onwards.

The 10-km and 7-km races were open to all (Indian Nationals only), while the 5-km run was for under-16 boys and girls. The 10-km race is the internationally approved distance for road races by International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

The winner of the 10-km (male) finished the race in 31 mins 29 secs whereas the winner of 10-km (female) finished the race in 35 mins 29 secs. The 7-km (male) winner finished the race in 22 mins 14 secs whereas the winner of 7-km (female) finished the race in 26 mins 41 secs. The 5 km (male) and 5-km (female) winners finished the race in 16 mins 5 secs and 18 mins 54 secs respectively.

In the 10 km run (Male) Ranjeet Kumar Patel bagged the first position and received Rs 51 thousand as cash award. Santosh Kumar Joshi was second followed by Yogendra Kumar who received Rs 41 thousand and 31 thousand respectively.

In the 10 km (Female) Chinta Yadav won the first prize and was awarded Rs 51 thousand cash prize. Puja Mondal was second and was awarded Rs 41 thousand while Jhuma Khatun bagged the third place to receive Rs 31 thousand cash prize.

In 7km (male) Pardeep Kumar was first followed by Brentius Marandi and Manas Das. Rs 25 thousand, Rs 20 thousand and Rs 15 thousand was awarded to top three winners.
In 7 km (Female) Vijay Laxmi won the top position and received Rs 25 thousand as cash award followed by Samsad Ara Begum who won Rs 20 thousand while Pinki Hansda received Rs 15 thousand.

In 5km (Boys) Bijay Singh Sundi won the first prize, Bablu Tudu was second while Alok Kumar won the third prize. The top three winners received Rs 10 thousand, Rs 8 thousand and Rs 7 thousand as cash awards.

In the 5 km (Girls) Shruti Kachap bagged the top position to receive Rs 10 thousand as cash award, Pooja Kumari was second who received Rs 8 thousand cash prize while Shahnaz Parween was third to receive Rs 7 thousand as cash award.

Tata Steel dignitaries present at the event were T V Narendran, CEO & MD, Anand Sen, President, TQM and Steel Business, Sunil Bhaskaran, Vice President, Corporate Services, Sudhanshu Pathak, Vice President, Steel Manufacturing, Suresh Dutt Tripathi, Vice President, Human Resources Management, Avneesh Gupta, Vice President, Shared Services, Ravi Radha Krishnan, Chief Aviation & Sports, Ashish Kumar, Head, Sports, R Ravi Prasad, President, Tata Workers� Union, Everester Premlata Agrawal, Hemant Gupta, Ruchi Narendran and others were present.
