Ranchi runs for values on foundation day

Jamshedpur, November 15, 2013- �Run For Inclusive Growth, Run For Values� was successfully organized by Tata Steel in collaboration with the department of Art Culture Sports and Youth Affairs department , Jharkhand Government on the occasion of State�s Foundation Day, November 15th at Morahbadi.

Tata Steel was keen to participate in the Foundation Day but in a different way and this Run was an initiative for the same. The Run was a platform where the upcoming talents showcased their skills, as Tata Steel has a history of nurturing budding talents in the state.

It was a different kind of Run as people from all walks of life including school children participated in the event. Along with them were professional runners from across the state.

On this occasion ten famous Indian sport icons were there in the Run. Ms Bachendri Pal, first Indian women to climb the Mount Everest, Ms Deepika Kumari, an Arjuna Awardee, Asian Games Medallist and Olympian, Mr Jayant Talukdar, Arjuna Awardee, Asian Games Medallist and Olympian, Mr Charles Borrmeo, Padmashree, Arjuna Awardee, Asian Games Medallist, Ms Purnima Mahato, Dronacharya Awardee, Ms Premlata Aggarwal, Padmashree, Mr Bagicha Singh, Arjuna Awardee, Asian Games Medallist and Olympian, Mr Divyendu Barua, Arjuna Awardee, Asuntha Lakra, former Hockey captain and Sylbanus Dungdung, Olympian and gold medallist (Hockey).

There were three categories of events. The first category of Run which began was a 10 kms run for both males and females in which there were 500 participants.

Then there was 5kms Run for boys and girls in which 2,500 participants took part. Along with this there was also 2.5kms Run for senior citizens, in which above 70 years oldies took part in the event along with special children. People in this category were given special token.

The total prize money is Rs 2 lakhs. The first prize money for both male and female is Rs 25,000 each, second prize money is Rs 20,000 each, third prize money is Rs 15,000 each fourth prize money is Rs 15,000 each, fifth prize money is Rs 8000 each, sixth prize money is Rs 6000 each, seventh prize money is Rs 5000 each, eighth prize money is Rs 4000 each, ninth prize money is Rs 2000 each and tenth prize money is Rs 1000 each.

Chief guests present on this occasion were Shashikant Bhokta,Honorable Speaker, Jharkhand Assembly, Ms Geetashri Oraon, Honorable minister for sports, Rajeev Kumar, Director General of Police ( DGP), Jharkhand, Vandana Dadel, IAS, Secretary, Sports and Industries.
