Jamshedpur : Twenty five-year-old youth, Riyal alias Putkul was shot dead at Ramnagar under Bagbera police station area.
Riyal a resident of Bedhadhipa bustee in Bagbera was hit with four bullets by unidentified assailants at Ramnagar. After killing him, the assailants fled the spot.
Soon a section of local residents rushed the victim to Tata Main Hospital. The doctors at the hospital’s emergency duty declared him as brought dead.
As the news spread, officer-in-charge, Ganesh Prasad Singh rushed to the spot followed by superintendent of police (city) Prashant Anand and deputy superintendent of police (law and order) Vimal Kumar. The police recovered six empty catridges from the spot.
The City SP said there was more than one assailants involved in the murder of Riyal who used to drive the police vehicle of Bagbera police station occasionally.
“We are investigating the incident. We suspect at least four assailants were involved in the murder. We are trying to identify the killers and the case will be detected soon,” said Anand.
“The victim had a criminal background, the local residents are not opening their mouths in apprehension. But we are trying to detect those involved in the crime,” said the officer.
The police officer said Riyal had done his night shift patrolling in Bagbera locality and after finishing the driving he had slept in the thana.
According to police, before taking to driving police vehicle, Riyal used to sell country-made liquor and was also accused in group clash in Bagbera locality. In sequel to the group clash in his locality, he was arrested and sent to jail two years ago.
The murder victim’s brother, Jaggu, who runs a small tent house at Bagbera said that his brother had more enemies.
