Jamshedpur: Senior BJP leader cum MLA of Jamshedpur West Saryu Roy today claimed that the allegations of power theft leveled by him against the MLA of Jamshedpur West Banna Gupta were based on facts.

He said Gupta could not mislead the voters by merely claiming that the allegations were baseless. He said he will expose Gupta in the court of the people (janata ki adalat) during election campaign.

I will ask the people to question Banna Gupta whether the charges are true or false. Six power connections have been given to a single house belonging to Banna Gupta in Kadma market.

The connection has been provided in the name of Mahendra Mohan Gaur in house number 43. Either Banna Gupta or Jusco should tell the status of bill payment and the amount.

Surprisingly, the meter reading of a JSEB connection to Bannas house in the name of Ramgopal Gupta from 2006 to 2011 is zero. Besides the legislator has also encroached government land, said Roy.

Roy said a probe was ordered by K Vijay Kumar, former advisor to the Jharkhand governor during Presidents Rule, at Kadma Food Plaza.

Banna Gupta was found to be guilty, but no action was taken. After some time, Congress-JMM alliance formed the governemnt. During probe, Gupta had claimed before investigating officers that he had encroached the place and that he will not leave the place come what may, said Roy.

Roy further alleged that Gupta had done nothing for the auto-rickshaw drivers of the city. He met the drivers of Sakchi auto-rickshaw stand and assured to provide them various benefits in the future.
