Jamshedpur : Gangster Akhilesh Singh is still traceless though the police are making every effort to catch hold of him.
Meanwhile, desperate to nab the mastermind, the police today took Sonu Singh alias Vicky into two-day police remand in connection with the Upendra Singh murder case. The city was abuzz that gangster Akhilesh Singh’s close associate Kanhaiya Singh will surrender in the civil court.
Though the security was beefed up in the city, but the murder accused did not turn up in the court for the surrender.
On the other hand the police have held Kanhaiya brother Tej Pratap Singh from his Bagbera house and have also started preparing to obtain a `kurki-jabti’ warrant ( property attachment) against him.
Superintendent of police (city) Prashant Anand confirmed that they are trying to arrest Akhilesh Singh and his associates by carrying out anti-crime checkings in the city and conducting raids outside.
” We are taking every step to catch hold of him and we are confident that we will be able to catch him soon. We are trying to arrest those accused in the Upendra Singh murder case and also in Amit Rai murder case by intensifying anti-crime checkings and conducting raids in and outside the city.
If the culprits surrender themselves we will be happy but the police are making every effort to catch him,” said Anand.
Akhilesh Singh’s name figured in the FIR after the interrogation of Sonu Singh who said that they wanted to join Akhilesh Singh’s “A-company” and therefore they had been given a task to kill Upendra Singh as an `examination’ to get into the company.
He had also pointed out that they had been introduced to Akhilesh Singh through Harish who is one of the close associates of the gangster a month ago. He also revealed before the police that they had been paid Rs 2 lakh in advance for executing the murder.
Superintendent of police (city) Prashant Anand said “we are doing our best to nab all the culprits involved in the murder of Upendra Singh.
We have taken some people for interrogation. The probe as well as attempts to nab the accused is on,” the SP (city) said while talking to The Telegraph, declining to say anything else.
The police are interrogating some persons for finding out the whereabouts of Akhilesh Singh who is married, having his wife away at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
