Police nab two members of loot gang from Jugsalai, Mango

Jamshedpur, March 14: The city police arrested two members of a gang from Jugsalai and Azadnagar in Mango and recovered a tab and a cell-phone, which were looted by the criminals along with Rs 76,000 cash from a self-help group (SHG) agent Shankar Bhakt at Ghirol village under Potka police station area on February 12.

Those arrested have been identified as Mohammed Musaraf and Mohammed Afroz alias Rehan, residents of Purani Bustee Road in Jugsalai and Azadnagar Road No 6 in Mango respectively. Two others identified as Rishi Lohar and Akbar Ali, who were also involved in the loot, are absconding.

Superintendent of police (rural) Mohammed Arshi said that while the agent was returning home at Ghatshila on his bike via the Hata-Ghatshila Road on February 12 afternoon, the four criminals riding on two bikes looted a bag containing cash worth Rs 76,000, a tab and two cell-phones.

“The criminals snatched away the bag containing the tab and the cash. Soon after the incident, the victim went to the Potka police station and lodged a complaint against unknown criminals, leading the police to start probe into the incident,” said Arshi.

Arshi said they seized the tab from the house of Mosaraf and the cell-phone was found at Afroz�s residence. He pointed out that cash worth Rs 76,000 looted by the criminals was distributed among the four.

The SHG agent, a resident of Barapuri village in Ghatshila, was returning home after collecting the money from six SHG centers in the Potka area and was scheduled to submit the amount to the local SHG office in Ghatshila on the following day.
