Jamshedpur, June 21: The city police are carrying out search operations to nab DTO racketeer Anwar Khan.

It has been unearthed that Seraikela district transport office (DTO) racketeer Anwar Khan in whose office premises the police had carried out a raid on June 15 has his roots of corrupt practices at the district transport office in Jamshedpur too.

Anwar’s link to Jamshedpur district transport office was unearth while the Seraikela police scanned the documents and papers seized from Anwar’s office premises at Dhatkidih in Bistupur on June 15.

Additional SP, Seraikela, KV Raman said from the seized papers they have found several such papers which belonged to the DTO, Jamshedpur.

The papers seized are revealing.

From these papers we found that the vehicle broker Anwar would also run similar office at Dhatkidih for DTO, Jamshedpur, beside that of DTO, Seraikela.

We have the documents like unprocessed driving licenses and certificates of vehicle registration which should ideally be in the office of DTO, Jamshedpur,” said Raman.

The additional SP, Seraikela, said that the racketeer Anwar is still on run and once he is arrested they would probe him as to in which capacity he was possessing the government papers at his office in Dhatkidih and how is he linked both to the DTO, Jamshedpur and DTO, Seraikela.

DTO, Jamshedpur, Sanjay Kujur said that he has also came to know that the police to have established that several of the documents that the Seraikela police had seized during a raid at a vehicle broker’s house has link with district transport office, Jamshedpur.

I cannot say much on it the matter as it is under investigation by the Seraikela police, but we will also want to know exactly how could the official papers which were to be processed or kept in our office find their place in the broker’s office,” Kujur said.

It may be recalled that Seraikela-Kharsawan police had on June 15 conducted a raid at Anwar’s office in Dhatkidih after a complaint was filed by local transporter Kanhaiya Singh who had alleged Anwar to have demanded Rs 2 lakh by personifying himself to be a staff of DTO, Seraikela.

Though Anwar (50) managed to escape the arrest, the police had succeeded to lay their hands on huge number of incriminating document.

Sources in the transporter circle revealed that the volume of DTO office racket in Jamshedpur is much bigger than that of Seraikela.

I cannot reveal much but yes one has to pay Rs 2,500 for issuance of a driving license for four-wheelers and Rs 1,000 for two-wheelers, where as the official fee is just Rs 840 and Rs 140 respectively,” said a transporter on condition of anonymity.

Police have seized Forms 23-38 meant for processing ownership documents, driving licenses and seal of DTO office and several other documents which belonged to the DTO office, Seraikela.
