Police to frisk visitors at Jubilee Park, security arrangements in place

Jamshedpur : In view of Founderís Day visitors going to the Jubilee Park will be frisked by police at the park’s entrance gates.

The drive will be carried for three day Founder’s Day celebration beginning tomorrow.

Considering a large number of people visiting the park, the city police took the decision for frisking the visitors for security reasons. As the park remains overcrowded with visitors, chances of criminal acts like chain-snatching, pickpocket and also eve-tease rise.

For people visiting Jubilee Park, following parking areas have been earmarked for the convenience of visitors- In front of Sacred Heart School, In front of Sir Dorabji Tata Park, Near Mohan Ahuja Stadium and Near C H Area Cricket Ground.

Revealing about the step, superintendent of police (city) Prashant Anand said that the decision for frisking of the visitors was taken at a meeting held today with officials of Jusco, the Tata Steel’s subsidiary which looks after the upkeep of the Jubilee Park.

Separate teams of police personnel, including lady cops will frisk visitors, including women . The checking will be done using metal detectors, but on suspicion the cops may also frisk visitors manually,” said Anand.

The City SP said over 50,000 people, mostly women and children remain inside the park for lighting decoration at any point of time between 6 pm and 10 pm during these three days. Anand, when asked, said the visitors will have to stand on queue while entering into the park.

Behind the bright lights were the nimble fingers and imagination of visualisers and light men from Chandannagar, Bengal. They have been behind the Founderís Day show for the past three decades, and this year, they took 45 days to create the magic.

One of this yearís most delightful visual treat was the fountainís myriad hues. Working models also caught the attraction of visitors. The Jayanti Sarovar played host to nine floats, each depicting activities related to the corporate social responsibility of the Tatas.
