Two mixed groups with men of both communities who are drug addicts fighting against each other after the Eid celebrations near Gandhi Maidan made the incident take such communal step, said SSP Anoop T Mathew talking to the media persons on Friday night.

The main conspirator Shibu is still at large but his father Md. Hafeez alias Kallu has been arrested along with Babai Nandi alias Putik and Jasim who were part of the group. They are habituated criminals and used religion for their own benefit.

It was sudden provocation which led to such clashes on 19 and 20 July making total unrest in the city, said SSP adding that Police launched special drive and arrested 89 warrantors from different police station areas on Thursday night keeping in mind the situation of Jamshedpur.

He further informed that 8 have been sent to jail and the number will rise as the investigation goes on.
