Police bust Maoist hideout in Gudabandha, seize cache of arms


    Jamshedpur: District police here busted a Maoist hideout in Gudabandha police station area of East Singhbhum and took in possession a cache of arms and ammunition kept in store by the outlaws.

    The senior superintendent of police (SSP) of East Singhbhum Anup T Mathew said a joint team comprising district police personnel and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans succeeded in giving a jolt to the Maoists in Dangrapahar area of Gudabandha. The team conducted raid at the said venue being reportedly used by the Maoists as a hideout and training camp.

    We reached the hideout on the basis of information furnished so far by a Naxalite, identified as Sonali Tudu, wife of Supai Tudu who was killed in a police encounter in Gudabandha police station area on 3rd January last. We got useful information about the Naxalites and their hideouts during interrogation. Acting promptly, the team raided the hideout and confiscated the arms kept in concealment,” said the SSP.

    Cops seized a self-loading rifle (SLR), a 0.303 mm rifle, one Improvised Musket Rifle, 43 live cartridges of 0.303 mm bore, six 0.315 mm bore bullets, one 7.62 live SLR bullet, a knapsack, an electronic circle, a flag of Naxalite out besides seizing a flag of Maoists, Naxalite literature and other items of daily usage, said the SSP.

    The SSP said the Maoists were driven away by the presence of the police. He said cops were making a list of items used by the Naxalites and trying to get leads so that their local links could be detected. He said the Maoists could be training in the area and trying to carry out subversive activities in the district and other places.
