Jamshedpur, Dec 5: The PMLA court has issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate on the basis of a complaint lodged by Pankaj Mishra, a close aide of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. ED has been asked to reply by December 15.
Mishra had recently filed a prosecution complaint petition in PMLA court against the Assistant Director of ED. He accused the top ED officials of hiding facts in the Barharwa tender case. Mishra is in judicial custody for his alleged involvement in Rs 1,000-crore illegal mining case. Soren was also questioned by the ED in this case.
Mishra has got a clean chit from Jharkhand Police in the Barharwa toll plaza bidding case. A senior police official of Jharkhand said that after investigating facts and witnesses, Mishra has been found innocent. The police have filed charge sheet against eight other accused.
An FIR in this case had been registered on the basis of a complaint by one Sambhu Nandan Kumar, who alleged that he was threatened by Mishra on June 22, 2020, for participating in the bidding for Barharwa toll plaza. Kumar claimed that Mishra told him over phone “not to participate” in the bidding process and when he refused to do so, he was attacked by a mob, allegedly at Mishra’s behest.
As per the Enforcement Directorate, the primary reason was to gain control of all the six toll plazas that come under the Barharwa Nagar Panchayat on the route connecting the mining sites.
