PLFI zonal commander carrying 10 lakhs reward killed in encounter in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum

Jamshedpur, July 17: In a major breakthrough Zonal commander of outlawed outfit People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) was killed in an encounter between the PLFI squad and paramilitary forces under Gudri police station area in West Singhbhum district in the Friday night. 
The PLFI zonal commander Sanichar Surin (38) was carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakhs on his head. 
The encounter took place Badakesel jungle under rebel-infested Gudri police station area bordering Khunti district at about 9.30 pm. 
When contacted, SP Ajay Linda confirmed the incident and said that the ultra carried a reward of Rs 10 lakhs 
He said that PLFI’s zonal commander Sanichar Surin was killed in an encounter with the police and paramilitary forces last night. 
“Sanichar Surin who was zonal commander of the outlawed PLFI and was carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head has been gunned down in an encounter with the police and paramilitary forces in Gudri thana area on Friday late night. A police contingent led by West Singhbhum SP, Ajay Linda which had gone to Gudri for carrying out a joint operation with the neighbouring Khunti police is yet to return, ” said an official. 
He said the police and paramilitary forces had conducted a combing operation in the Badakesel jungle where the encounter took place. He said, therefore, it is still not clear whether the police have recovered any firearms or else anything from the encounter site. 
Police said that the security has been beefed up in the area and they were keeping strict vigil on movement of the Naxlites. “There has been a substantial increase in Maoist activities in this. We are not much concerned about small acts of violence because these activities can be controlled by us, but the bigger attacks are worrisome,” said a security official.
