Patrolling intensifies at Jubilee Park

Jamshedpur : The East Singhbhum district police have enhanced security at the Jubilee Park and other places where people go for jogging and morning walk.

The decision was taken in view of the murder of realtor Ram Sakal Yadav near the Jubilee Park gate on Saturday. Other areas, where the police will focus for increasing the security include the Joggers’ track on the Kadma-Sonari Link Road in Kadma , JRD Tata Sports Complex in Bistupur.

The entrance of the Jubilee Park and other places mentioned above will be covered with CCTV cameras and constant patrolling will be carried out both in the morning as well as in the evening.

Superintendent of police (city) Chandan Jha said that they have already decided to install four or more CCTV cameras in each of the parks and the stadium being used for jogging by the people.

He said they are relying much on the CCTV camera it will work as a deterrent against the criminal elements who indulge in targeting the people for murder during the victims come to the public places for jogging or other physical exercises especially during early morning.

Concerned over the rising crime graph in the city, the district police department had set the ball rolling to install closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras at major traffic points and the market area. The areas identified are Sakchi to Golmuri, Golmuri to Agrico, Agrico to Sakchi, Kadma-Sonari link road, Circuit House area near Sai Mandir.

Officials said that the city is going to have as many as 22 such cameras to be installed on the important roads shortly. He said that a meeting was held with the officials of Jusco. The company has agreed to grant land and power for the cameras.

He further added that the gadgets will be installed atop overhead bill-boards on the roads and also the important areas so as enable the cameras to cover the overall view of roads of any given place.

“The project for installation of CCTV cameras is being worked out jointly by a private firm and the district police, and the process of installation of the gadgets has started. This is the third phase of the project. The CCTV cameras have helped to instill fear amongst the law breakers. It is also helping us to controlling traffic and identifying of errant riders involved in accidents,� noted a police official.

According to him, the roads in important localities like Bistupur, Sakchi and Golmuri are being given priority of the CCTV camera installation and in the later stage the localities with lesser civic importance will be selected for the same.

The camera will help in easily identifying people involved in anti-social activities in the area. The police department will ensure that the large number of CCTV cameras installed to monitor traffic offences is incorporated into the new system.

It is a testing time for the city police in the wake of a spurt in crimes like snatching, burglary and group clashes in the city. Taking lesson from the past incidents the district administration is not ready to take any chance on the security front.
