Panchayat rights demanded


    Jamshedpur: Mukhiya Sangh Jamshedpur members handed over a memorandum to the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum to demand rights of panchayat representatives. The memorandum was addressed to the Chief Minister of Jharkhand.

    Many mukhiyas and villagers were present during the meeting with the DC. The panchayat representatives said the villagers were deprived of their pension, Indira Awas units and other benefits. They said the administration should do something to fulfill their demands.

    The mukhiyas said the district administration should provide pension to all eligible widows and also provide pensions to the physically challenged persons of all communities. They said that the government should increase the amount of pension from Rs 400 to Rs 800.

    The agitating mukhiyas further demanded that kerosene should be distributed in the villages of the district through hawkers. The mukhiyas said the administration should take immediate measures to ensure that the water supply projects are implemented as soon as possible.
