Jamshedpur: An 18 year old youth, identified as Lakhan Boypai, died while another, Ardan Deogam, was seriously injured in a road accident in Rajnagar police station area on Friday.
Sources said the mishap occurred on the Hata-Chaibasa main road near Kesargarhiya when three youths including the two victims were taking a stroll on the roadside. A speeding trailer truck ran over two of the youths, killing Lakhan at the scene.
Ardan sustained serious injuries. He was taken to the Community Health Centre in Rajnagar. The third youth, Durga Deogam, was lucky enough to sustain no injury in the incident.
Irked over the incident, hundreds of villagers blocked the main road for several hours. The protestors demanded compensation for the next of kin of the deceased and the injured youth. They were persuaded by the BDO who assured to give compensation to the aggrieved family.
