Jamshedpur, May 9: Passengers are finding it hard to get filtered water at the Tatanagar railway station these days. The reason is that the water vending machines installed at the platforms by the IRCTC have been removed by the Railway Commercial Department.
Earlier, the electrical and engineering department had discontinued power and water supply to the water vending machines.
According to the Station Director Raghuvansh Kumar, an order was issued by the Chakradharpur Divisional Headquarters in this regard four days ago.
As a result of removal of machines, the passengers are unable to get cold and filtered water at economical rate. They are forced to purchase bottled mineral water from other vendors. The IRCTC provided them cold and filtered water for Rs 5. Till an alternative arrangement is done, they will have to fetch water from other alternative sources, said an official.
