No-entry time evokes mixed response in the city

Jamshedpur: The change in no-entry times has evoked mixed response in the city.

The district administration and the transport department have geared up for strict implementation of the new traffic rules.

On the first the drive evoked mixed response while the people at large did not have to face any hassles.

Today the officials carried out two rounds of vehicle checking drive in which fines were slapped on heavy vehicles having national permits for not having double drivers.

Fines were also realized from the flouters of non-parking zones. During the drive nine vehicles were seized in the morning and four vehicles were seized in the evening. The vehicles seized were taken to Burmamines and Sitaramdera PS. Rs 45,000 were fined on the seized vehicles.

In the same manner 29 vehicles were also seized for violating no-parking zone rules. About Rs 29,000 fines were slapped on the seized vehicles.

The vehicle checking drive was carried out at Sunsunia Gate, Burmamines, Agrico Light Signal, Jugsalai Pigment roundabout. Officials from district transport office and MVI carried out the drive.

On the other hand the bus transporters had tried to throw spanner on the drive by parking their vehicles on the road at Mango Bus stand.

Now school students heaved a sigh of relief from recurrent traffic snarls. Earlier plying of heavy vehicles started at 1:30 pm when students used to leave their schools for home.
