New Baradwari: 10-year-old boy nabbed while stealing cell-phone from a house


    Jamshedpur: In a bizarre incident, a 10-year-old boy was nabbed while he was stealing a cell-phone from a house at New Baradwari under Sakchi police station area this morning.The boy was later handed over to the Sakchipolice station by the house owner Rajendra Sinha, but the complainant did not give anything in writing to the police.

    OC, Sakchipolice station Mohan Kumar Sharma confirmed about the incident and informed that the 10-year-old boy is presently lodged in the police custody.He said that they are unable to register a case unless they have a written complaint against the accused. ” We were informed about the incident by the house owner. We takenthe accused in our custody. We do not have any written complaint nor any object like the cellphone that the boy had stolen in our possession. We cannot register a case against the accused without any proof,” noted the officer-in-charge.

    The incidents of thefts and burglaries are on the rise in the city. Incidents of vehicle lifting have also gone up in the city, suggesting that separate gangs of thieves and bike-lifters have become active during the marketplaces as well as in residential areas.

    Since the past one week, on an average two incidents of thefts in households and as many incidents of bike-lifting are being reported to the police every day, leading the district police to increase vigilance.

    Deputy superintendent of police (headquarter-1) K.N Mishra said they have increased night-patrolling at the residential areas in Mango, Jawaharnagar, Sidhgora and Sitaramdera area where the incidents of thefts and burglaries are on the rise. “We are carrying patrolling from the Police Control Room vans and also by bike-borne tiger cops. We have instructed the cops on patrolling duty to stop and look for unwanted persons after the late in the night,” said Mishra.

    With rising cases of thefts and burglaries becoming a regular affair in the city, the administration must appoint extra security personnel and nights guards as a part of preventive measures. It is time for the police to focus attention to curtail the increasing cases of burglary in the city. Thefts not only in residential areas but also in commercial establishments have been reported. Specially constituted patrolling squads ahould be been deployed under the limits police stations,” noted a resident.

    “There has been a spurt in petty crimes in the city. We have been successful in arresting quite a few thieves involved in the reported cases but I think there is a need to ensure proper night watch. We are planning to increase the movement of mobile police and vigil,” noted a police official.

    He went on to add that maximum cases of thefts have been reported from Bistupur, Sakchi and Golmuri areas this year. The police would increase vigil in these areas.
