NDRF team pressed in to recover dead body from water tank in Adityapur

Jamshedpur: A team of NDRF was pressed in to recover a dead body from a water tank in Adityapur industrial area under RIT police station area of Adityapur on Saturday.  The body was badly decomposed and it was difficult to determine whether it is that of a male or female. The NDRF team had left Ranchi at noon and reached the spot at  3 pm. Significantly, the body reduced to almost a skeleton as it is supposed to be there in the water tank for a long time.

OC, RIT police station, Rajesh Kumar Bhokta said that they had no choice but approach the NDRF team for recovery. The water supply from the tank was affected since the past four days, leading the officials of the Drinking Water &Sanitation Department (DW&SD) to discover the body inside it.

“During search we found that the body was trapped in a pipe, the DW&SD had pressed private pipe laying agency but as the agency could not remove the body, we had to decide to inform the NDRF through the Seraikela-Kharsawan district administration, ” said the OC on Saturday.

As the residents of the locality, including the students of NIT would consume water supplied from the same tank, the discovery of the dead body in the water tank spread sensation there.

” We are all stressed after the recovery of the body. We fear that we had been consuming highly contaminated water supplied from a tank containing a decomposed human body, ” a resident of NIT Colony said.
