Jamshedpur: With assembly elections inching closer, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha organised a conference of party activists at Town Hall, Sidhgora, on Thursday.
Addressing the conference, former CM and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) president Babulal Marandi said his party will emerge as the single largest party in the ensuing Assembly elections. He said the voters wanted a change and JVM was the best option for them.
Marandi said all other parties including the BJP and All Jharkhand Students’ Union (AJSU) had only fooled the people of Jharkhand. He said the JVM was not going to shake hands with such parties.
He further added that regional political parties had taken a front seat because national parties have failed to live up to the expectations of the people.
“I am of the opinion that the national parties including Congress and BJP have miserably failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people. This is the reason why the people are looking up to the regional parties as an alternative,” said the JVM leader.
Marandi said the party had planned to contest the Assembly elections on all the 81 seats of the state. “Although we had alliance with the Congress in last Assembly polls but as of now we have plans to contest on all the seats,” he claimed.
He also said the politicians of several national as well as regional parties sitting in New Delhi were robbing the people of the state of their hard earned money. He said the sand contracts allotted by the Jharkhand government should be cancelled.
A district leader went on to add that the meeting was an important event in the run-up to the elections.
