Jamshedpur, Oct 15: Members of Mukhi community and several student outfits here on Saturday put up demonstration outside the district education department to protest alleged humiliation of a class 9 student of Shardamani Girls High School, Sakchi, by one of her teachers on Friday.
The protestors alleged that the invigilating teacher Chandra Das had led the girl to attempt suicide through self-immolation. They said the teacher had forced the student to remove her clothes in front of the class after finding her guilty of cheating during her Science exam.
The relatives and well-wishers of the minor girl also put up an angry demonstration before the school this morning and demanded arresting of Chandra Das. They alleged that the girl had attempted suicide after being asked to remove her clothes in the classroom by the invigilator.
The said school remained closed in view of the protest and the self-immolation incident. AJSU student leaders also demanded sacking of the accused teacher.
Ill-treatment of students not tolerable: BJP
Jamshedpur, Oct 15: BJP district general secretary Anil Modi condemned the incident of alleged humiliation of class 9 girl of Shardamani Girls High School, Sakchi, by her teacher and demanded exemplary action in the case. He said the BJP stood in sympathy with the family of the girl who was critically burnt in suicide attempt. He also sought action against the school management and said such incidents could not be tolerated.
