Jamshedpur: Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC) here on Thursday launched a special drive to nab people going to defecate in the open.

Several persons were caught and released with a warning against repeating their acts.

The campaign was led by the special officer of Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC) Sanjay Kumar who caught such people near Shamshan Ghat and Birsa Road areas of Olidih.

Local social worker Mangal Bodra accompanied the MNAC team during the door-to-door visit.

The residents were asked to inform MNAC in case they still did not have access to toilet. Kumar said the tenants who did not have toilet facility often went outside to defecate.

The local residents suggested that a public toilet should be constructed near Shamshan Ghat Maidan. Kumar identified a plot and formally laid the foundation of a toilet on it.

He said the toilet construction work should commence within 24 hours.

The special officer also caught four persons throwing waste at public place. He warned them against repeating the act and released them without fine.
