Rs 19,500 collected in fine from encroachers on first day

Jamshedpur: Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC) launched a massive anti-encroachment campaign in Mango on Thursday. A sum of Rs 19,500 was collected from 26 encroachers at New Purulia Road. Notices are being sent to five shops and establishments under Municipality Act, said Sanjay Kumar, the executive magistrate cum special officer of MNAC, who led the campaign.

The MNAC officials teamed up with traffic and local police officials to remove encroachment from the streets of Mango. Today being the first day of the campaign, many encroachers were given warning to remove their wares from the road.

We have appealed to the people to extend full cooperation to the MNAC so that the streets are kept free from encroachment. The drive is not meant to harass anyone. Rather, it is for the betterment of the citizens. We want public cooperation in making the city clean and beautiful, said Kumar.
Kumar said the drive against encroachment will continue at New Purulia Road, Old Purulia Road and Dimna Road for a month-long period. He said warnings were also issued to motorists who had parked their vehicles recklessly on the streets.

Among those present during the anti-encroachment drive included DSP traffic Vivekanand Thakur and Mango police inspector Arun Kumar Mahatha.
