Minor rape case: Police form four-member probe team


    Jamshedpur , Feb. 7: East Singhbhum police have constituted a four-member team to probe into the sensational minor rape case. The girl was raped by several persons including a policeman last month.

    The probe team constituted by East Singhbhum SSP Anoop T. Mathew late last night, is led by DSP headquarter-I K. N Mishra, Mango police station officer-in-charge, Arun Kumar Mahatha, Sakchi Mahilathana in-charge Seema Kumari and Jadugudathana in-charge, Priyanka Kumari and will be submitting their report to the new SSP Anup Birtharay.

    Meanwhile, city SP Jamshedpur, Prabhat Kumar informed that acting on the directive of SSP Anoop T. Mathew the MGM thana in-charge Imdad Ansari, who is also amongst accused for raping the minor girl, has been sent to district police lines at Golmuri.

    We are investigating the incident. Since the police officer faces serious charge alleged by the victim, the SSP had yesterday late night issued a directive to shift the MGM thana in-charge to district police lines till the investigation into the incident is completed and the report is submitted to SSP,” said Prabhat Kumar.
    The police have taken the girl from her master’s house at Sahara City for carrying out the probe. They questioned the girl and the family members of her master, Nanak Chandra Seth at Mahila police station in the day.

    Meanwhile, Indrapal Singh Saini (44), a resident of Marina City, an apartment adjoining Sahara City at Mango (where the victim is staying), one of the three persons accused of rape by the victim, who had been arrested by the police yesterday was sent to Ghaghidih Central Jail.

    The two other co-accused Shiv Kumar Mahto and Santosh Mahto (both residents of Kumrum Basti, near the Sahara City apartments) are still absconding.

    “Though one of the named accused has been arrested, we are focussed on the involvement of a police officer in the rape of the girl. We are making the victim to lead us to the places where she had been raped,” the senior police officer said.
