Jamshedpur: A case of child trafficking came to light here on Friday in Birsanagar police station area of the city.

A minor girl recovered by the police was reportedly sold to an agent in lieu of Rs 70,000 by a man, identified as Gonu. The accused had taken the girl along with him to Madhya Pradesh from her neighbourhood in Zone Number 1 B, Birsanagar, in January this year.

Sources said the minors father had expired in the year 2011. She lived with her grandmother and two younger brothers. She used to work as domestic help in local households.

Gonu had seen the girl in the locality and planned to sell her to agents. He sold the girl to one Devendra Singh Raghuvanshi of Barol Chuna Station Road in Madhya Pradesh. Raghuvanshi confined the girl in his house and raped her for four months. He would not allow her to go anywhere.

On 6th May, the girl escaped from Raghuvanshis house and went to railway station. She told police about the incident and sought help.

She was rescued by the government rail police and later handed over to Jamshedpur police. A case was lodged against Gonu, Raghuvanshi and others with the Sakchi police station after preliminary investigation.
