Matric exams: East Singhbhum performs well in Kolhan

Jamshedpur, May 20: In Kolhan, students from East Singhbhum have performed better than its neighbors – West Singhbhum and Seraikela- Kharswan in the matriculation examinations, results of which were announced on Friday.

However, the overall percentage has taken a plunge as compared to last year, and compared to girls, boys have performed better this year.

East Singhbhum scored a pass percentage of 69.45 percent this year as compared to 72.5 percent last year. While West Singhbhum has scored 60.61 percent compared to 69. 38 percent in 2015, Seraikela-Kharswan has managed to achieve a pass percentage of 62 against 67.72 percent last year.

The state education department had arranged for model question papers and distributed them in schools. Apart from the mock tests conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), the East Singhbhum district, under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), also organized mock tests in schools. Also it had asked schools to conduct extra classes for poor students and to clarify their doubts.

Mukesh Kumar Sinha, district education officer (DEO), East Singhbhum, said that the district had 100 percent fair examination because they gave all kinds of support to the students and teachers.

The Internet cafes of the city were in a choc-a-bloc situation on as curious students thronged the cyber houses to know the�results�of the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) matriculation examination.

Long queues of the students were seen outside the cyber cafes from mid-afternoon. The day, however, belonged to the Internet shop owners who registered brisk business. The students rejoiced themselves after getting the�results. They expressed satisfaction over the outcome but some were seen little disappointed as they failed to obtain the marks according to expectations.

�I am happy to have achieved second division in the exam. I will work harder and would take up science in intermediate,� said a student of D M Madan , Bistupur.

Last year, the JAC intermediate result for Science and Commerce students was released on 27 April, 2015 while the JAC results for the Inter Arts students was published on 21 May, 2015.
