Loyola School celebrates German Language Day

Jamshedpur : Loyola School celebrated German Day on Wednesday by organising series of activities. German Language Day is celebrated all over the world on the second Saturday of September since 2001.

Launched by the German Language Association in 2001 , the objective of celebrating this day is to spread awareness about the German language . This promotes diversity with in one�s own linguistic world.

At Loyola , German has been introduced as an optional subject at the fourth Std level . As a part of the celebrations , students of Std four sang a German song and recited a poem in German and also spoke about the importance of the German language at the school level .

German Quiz is conducted every month in school and one lucky winner is recognized in the assembly.

Father Sebastian, principal, Loyola School said that the initiative has provided a learning opportunity to the students to expand their horizon.

They will learn about the German culture. The exchange programme which will result between the two nations will enhance international bonding and one more step towards our students becoming global citizens.

�There are many reasons why we should learn a foreign language. Learning a language of another country helps one understand its culture.

Language becomes a peephole to look at the nation�s culture, its traditions and its history. Loads of research work, journals and documents need immediate translation into English to facilitate knowledge liquidity in the Indian market.

Building a workforce that is fluent in a foreign language is vital to assisting India�s emerging status on several international fronts,� said a student.
