Jamshedpur, August 1: Hundreds of devotees participated in the Jalabhishek Yatra organized at Surya Mandir, Sidhgora, to mark the third Monday of Shravan month.

Leading the Jalabhishek Yatra, former Chief Minister Raghubar Das walked with the devotees from Bhojpur Colony Chhath Ghat in Baridih to Surya Dham Shivalaya and performed Jalabhishek ceremony of Lord Shiva.

Das said he had prayed for the wellbeing and prosperity of the people of Jharkhand including those from Jamshedpur.

Earlier in the day, a group of 11 pundits administered Jalabhishek Sankalp ritual at Hari Mandir ground in Baridih.

The devotees, many of whom were women, carried the Tricolour and saffron flag in their hands. Chants of Har Har Mahadev and Bol Bam could be heard all around.

Fans and cold drink counters were installed at various places across the temple premises. Sikh Sangat members welcomed the devotees by garlanding them. The Jalabhishek ceremony continued till afternoon. More than 46,000 devotees received the Prasad after Jalabhishek. Prasad distribution took place at Sone Mandap under the aegis of the temple committee. There were altogether 35 counters, out of which 20 offered Prasad while the remaining 15 offered drinking water to the devotees.

The former CM thanked the devotees for their contribution in making the programme a grand success. He said all people should learn from Lord Shiva as he is an eternal source of energy and inspiration for one and all.

Temple committee president Sanjeev Singh said the Surya Mandir had become a centre of faith for the devotees. He thanked all those who made the programme successful.
