Jamshedpur, April 28: BJP Jharkhand State Spokesperson cum Ex-MLA Kunal Shadangi met Avinash Kumar, Energy Secretary, JBVNL (Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited) in Ranchi and urged him to take immediate steps to improve the pathetic power supply conditions in East Singhbhum. He informed the Secretary that people in rural areas were the worst sufferers during the long prevailing poor and erratic power supply. Many non-Tata Company area residents including those at Mango and Jugsalai were not getting electricity supply even for eight hours a day. People had been agitating on the roads. Children’s exams were on and the poor power supply conditions affected their preparations for exams. Kunal said, “Elderly people were hit by water crisis that arose due to irregular power supply to water pump houses. The Electricity Departmental officials, instead of attempting to resolve the power issue,  blames it on DVC or Tenughat. The issue should be resolved. People who fail to pay electricity bills on time are fined. The same rule should apply to the electricity department personnel for their lethargic attitude towards people’s power supply problems.”

The Secretary admitted that the present situation could not be termed satisfactory but the situation would be normalized within a few days. He told the BJP state spokesperson, Kunal Shadangi, “The demand for electricity has increased tremendously in this scorching summer period. Ways are also being worked out to clear the dues of all the agencies providing electricity to the state. The state government has decided to take the financial burden for procuring power from India Energy Exchange at a higher cost. But relief will be given to the public soon. He has ordered the General Manager of Jamshedpur circle to do ration power supply as far as possible in all areas after assessing the availability of electricity including the power requirements of people feeder wise and industrial requirements and ensuring the availability of transformers and other electrical equipment.
