Kanwaria Sanghs gear up to pay obeisance to Lord Shiv at Baidhyanath Dham

Jamshedpur, July 28 : The devotees are gearing up to participate in the holy walk to Deoghar Baidhyanath Dham to pay obeisance to Lord Shiv. The various Kanwaria Sanghs across Jamshedpur are also preparing for the occasion.

Devotees are all ready to make that trip to Deoghar. Some of the devotees have planned to visit Basukinath, Mahadevshal (near Manoharpur in West Singhbhum) and Tarakeskwar (in Bengal) instead of Deoghar.

And as the steel city gears up with renewed vigour, in an attempt to ease rush of devotees during the holy month of Shravan, the South Eastern Railway ( SER) has decided to run a special train from Tatanagar to Jasidih ( Deoghar).

Officials of Garden Reach, headquarters of South Eastern Railway said that the train will run five days a week- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
The train will leave Tatanagar at 11.45 am and will reach Jasidih at 7.20 pm. On its return journey the train will leave Jasidih at 11.10 and will reach Tatanagar, the originating station at 5.30 pm. The train will run for a month till August – the concluding day of the Shravani Mela.

“Apart from introducing the special train we will also provide the facility of additional coaches with an aim to ease the rush of devotees on Bihar-bound trains during the festival month,” said an official.

Fifty-seven-year old Rajnikant Sinha said: “Devotees collect holy water from the Ganga therefore we halt at Sultangunj from where we take the local train. When we collect water from the holy river we are supposed to take a sankalp (pledge).

The 110km walk or journey by tempo or bus to Deoghar starts from Sultangunj after performing these rituals. Some of the devotees fast while taking that journey but I won’t fast this time.”

The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the comfort of the devotees. The journey for the devotees is incomplete till they offer the holy water to Lord Shiv.

The Shravan festival looks incomplete without those saffron attire. And this time apart from the saffron kurtas, there are shorts and shirts from which thedevotees can chose.
