Journalist attacked at Adityapur industrial area

Jamshedpur , Aug.1: A 42-year-old journalist was attacked by two miscreants near AIADA Bhavan on the Tata-Kandra road under Adityapur police station area, past-midnight.

The victim Priya Ranjan Singh, a journalist of a local vernacular daily and resident of S-Type in Adityapur was returning home from his Sakchi-based office when he was attacked by the duo, who were on foot. They had first tried to intercept Singh, when Singh ignored, one of them suddenly came in front of the bike, forcing him to stop.

The duo asked Singh for a ride to Gamharia. As Singh was talking to one of them, another one came close to the bike from behind and hit him twice on the rear side of his head with a boulder. Singh later managed to snatch the boulder and threw it away.

Incidentally, three local youth who were coming from the opposite direction came to Singh’s rescue. Later, all of them including Singh started chasing the attackers and finally succeeding in getting hold of one of them while the other one managed to escape.

The culprit who was caught was identified as Ram Bachan Singh ( 26), a resident of Gamharia. He was later handed over to the Adityapur police. Adityapur police station OC, Vijay Singh confirmed the incident and said that the attack was intended to commit snatching . ” We are investigating the incident.

We have arrested one of the culprits and are trying to nab the other one. We have got the name of the other youth involved in the act and will arrest him soon,” said Singh adding that the duo was in an intention of snatching. The victim was taken to the Tata Main Hospital after the incident.
