JNAC demolishes under construction restaurant in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 19: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) on Saturday demolished part of an under construction restaurant being set up at Sakchi. The upcoming restaurant was being set up on the basement of triple-storeyed Jayant Bhawan at the SNP Area in Sakchi.

The owner of the restaurant whose identity is yet to be ascertained had blocked the entrance of the Jayant Bhawan by putting up an iron door and was carrying out the work for setting up furniture and other necessary fittings inside it.

A team of officials of the civic body raided the place and ransacked the sign-board put up at the entrance of the restaurant and dismantled scaffolding outside the building.

City manager, JNAC, Ravi Bharti said they have dismantled the sign-board and scaffolding on Saturday and informed that they will raze the remaining fabrication work inside the upcoming restaurant on Monday.  of the approved plan is a common thing to happen.  There are areas like Sitaramdera, Baradwari, Sonari, Sakchi and Kadma where most of the residential apartments have been built in deviation of the approved plan.

“We would be carrying out similar drives in different lanes and roads inside the Sakchi market regularly as part of our objective to decongest roads in the market area,” said the official.

Similar drives would be carried out on the road opposite Basant Talkies, Tin Shed Market and on Kalimati Road. This drive will make a way for smooth flow of traffic. Acting on frequent complaints made by residents the step is being taken.

“We cannot compromise with the safety of the market place. Moreover , people  also find it inconvenient to move into the market freely with the passages getting choked due to the make-shift shops,” said the official.

According to the official, they would ensure that the market place is cleared of any type of encroachments including the manner in which the shopkeepers had extended their shops.
