Gamharia, July 26: Members of the Jharkhandi Khatian Sangharsh Samiti (JKSS) along with other villagers launched a protest at Gamharia police station demanding release of the organization’s Chairman Dev Anand Mahto who had been picked up from home in the small hours of Monday and taken to the police station for questioning on the issue of blocking Jharkhand Minister for transport and tribal welfare, Champai Soren’s escort vehicle. JKSS and villagers demanded the release of Dev Anand Mahto, who, they said, had been falsely implicated in the incident.
JKSS senior member, Ravindra Singh Sardar while describing the incident of blocking the Minister’s escort vehicle, said, “Two days earlier, Minister Champai Soren refused to entertain a memorandum that led to the incident of blocking the escort vehicle. It was the handiwork of some miscreants as those opposed to the Minister’s refusing to accept a memorandum. There was no involvement of our organization’s members but yet, our Chairman, Dev Anand Mahto was picked up by the Gamharia police early morning on Monday for interrogation regarding the incident.”
The strong opposition and protest by JKSS and villagers in demand for the release of Dev Anand Mahto, the Gamharia PS In-charge, has assured the release of the organization’s Chairman, Dev Anand Mahto after interrogation.
