Ranchi, July 1: “Suno! Mere peeche mat aao! Ek paudha lo aur ja kar lagao!” Chief Minister Raghubar Das said addressing a boy at the official inauguration of tree plantation ceremony.
“Look, two elderly women have come to inspire us to plant trees in this hot afternoon. (Calling a girl) Dear daughter, come here.. Take a sapling and plant there.”
Addressing the people moving around him in the tree plantation initiation program, which will last for the whole month, the Chief Minister said that everyone should plant at least five saplings on their birthdays. He said that instead of pretending to plant trees, we have to become result oriented.
With plantation of 75,000 saplings at Jainagar situated in between Jindal Steel factory and Patratu block, the CM inaugurated the tree plantation month exactly in the role of a statesman.
Amid folk song and dance of school children, he reached there, got 102-year-old Ram Dulari Devi and 96-year-old Sarswati Devi plant saplings each and inaugurated state-wide tree plantation campaign.
Addressing the people on this occasion, Chief Minister said that Jharkhand will ensure development in tune with environment.
He said that in the pace of industrial development which is an integral factor, we cannot forget the ecological endeavors. He said that development of the state is everybody’s responsibility as the state belongs to 3.29 core people. He summoned people for water conservation.
Adding to the slogan “Village water for the village, farm water for farm,” Das said that “city water should be used by city.” He discussed environmental changes with the villagers and said, “We can solve the problems with our determination and dedication.”
He said that in the current financial year, 4 lakh dovas and 50,000 ponds will be rejuvenated for water availability.
Plants maintain ecological balance and level of underground water. In Indian culture, trees are related with spiritualism. A total of 2.5 crore saplings will be planted by July 31. “We have to hand over the new generation green and clean Jharkhand.
Under Jan Van scheme, govt. is giving subsidy for tree plantation on rayyat land.”
He said that DPR is being prepared for construction of marine drive at Patratu Dam and land has been identified for making film city. The govt. is doing its best and people should come forward for development.
Development commissioner Amit Khare said that the CM wanted to make tree plantation a public movement. The government has provided Rs. 200 crore to the Agriculture Department for water conservation which proved to be successful. Two lakh dovas have been dug with people’s help.
Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department principal secretary Sukhdeo Singh said that 2.5 crore saplings will be planted in July which will improve the climate. He said that the CM believes that tree plantation should not be a formality only.
Kanke MLA Jeetu Charan Ram, Khijri MLA Ram Kumar Pahan, Chief Forest Custodian and other dignitaries were present on this occasion.
