Ranchi, June 20: The vaccination drive against Covid-19 in Jharkhand from July will gain more speed with a target set by state health department to vaccinate over 1 lakh beneficiaries daily with the Central government next phase of liberalised and accelerated vaccination policy commencing from June 21.

Incidentally, as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central government will provide free Covid-19 vaccines to everyone above the age of 18 years will begin from June 21. The states won’t have to procure vaccines from the manufacturers. The Centre will buy 75 per cent of the vaccines and will distribute them among the states and the Union territories free of cost.
In the month of July, as per information shared on Sunday by the state health department, the Centre will provide as many as 24,85,150 doses of vaccines free of cost to the state, and at least 8,28,390 doses will be earmarked for purchase by private hospitals in Jharkhand.

“We currently have the infrastructure to administer around 1 crore vaccine doses every month. We are also working on improving facilities in the state to ensure that all the vaccine doses provided by the Centre in a given month are used in that month itself and there is no issue of backlog and we receive more number of vaccines in the next month,” said state health department nodal officer IEC, Siddharth Tripathi
As per data with the National Health Mission (NHM), there are at least 3,377 government-run vaccination centres in Jharkhand where jabs are administered free of cost to beneficiaries. The number of vaccination centres will be gradually increased once the supply of vaccine from the Centre increases, officials said.
