Ranchi, Dec. 13: People making cashless transactions between 8th to 30th December will be selected through lottery and the Central Government will award the winner.

On 14th January, a mega draw will take place in which the common people and businessmen will be felicitated. This was announced today by the CEO of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant on his visit to the state capital to review the Cashless Jharkhand campaign.

Addressing a press conference, Amitabh Kant said that the government officers of the state were doing a remarkable job in making the state cashless. Citing the example of Andhra Pradesh, Amitabh Kant said that Jharkhand should be made the number 1 digital state.

Praising the initiatives taken by the state government, Amitabh Kant said that cashless revolution has started from Jharkhand and 95 per cent people have the Aadhar number. Now the Aadhar numbers should be connected with the bank accounts to propel the digital payment campaign.

People should opt for less cash since 86% transactions are done through cash. Only 1 per cent of the nation’s population pays the tax which affects the economy. Cashless efforts will show transactions and the economy will be strengthened. People are competent enough to adopt cashless as a way of transaction,” he said.

The NITI Aayog Secretary said that Aadhar number should be used as a weapon for connecting people with the cashless Jharkhand campaign. “Internet should be made available to the people in the way electricity is supplied by using poles as it is done in Andhra Pradesh.

The Union Government will extend every possible help in ensuring this. The banks will have to play an important role. Banks should activate Rupay Card to promote digital payment.

Out of a total of 80 crore ATM cards, only 45 crore are in use. Banks should inspire people to use ATM cards. Pragya Kendras and business communities can also play an important role in promoting cashless transactions.

He said that PDS should ensure cent per cent ration distribution through cashless transaction as Aadhaar number has been given to rural consumers,” he said.

The NITI Aayog Secretary said that Jharkhand government was running a campaign about education and cashless transaction. VAT has been lifted on e-PoS machines and mobile phones. This state is working better in many respects.

He said that 55,000 police personnel have been trained regarding cashless transactions. In their turn they will train five others. Other departments of the state are working in the same direction which shows the sincerity of the state towards cashless transactions.

Amitabh Kant said that 26 and 29 parameters have been given to the state government to provide information regarding health and education respectively.
