Jharkhand prepared to tackle Third wave of Coronavirus: Hemant Soren

CM attends family function at ancestral village in Ramgarh

Ranchi, July 16:  Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday said that the state is well prepared to tackle the third wave of Coronavirus.

Talking to reporters at his ancestral village of Nemra located in Gola Block of Ramgarh district where the chief minister had gone to attend a family marriage function, Hemant Soren   said before the end of the second wave the state had started preparations for the third wave as at many places facilities for the children have been put into place while in many districts the health department has also completed necessary preparations and arrangements.

However, the Chief Minister said that in which form or shape the third wave will strike is yet to be fathomed fully.

Further, he said that as far as health facilities are concerned whatever will be required in the third phase will be fulfilled by the government as all the concerned departments including the disaster management department are keeping an eye on the situation.

Despite admitting to the fact that there was a lack of resources in the state he pointed that Jharkhand had done a far better arrangement and planning to tackle the first and second waves of Coronavirus.

He pointed that since there was not much knowledge available regarding the virus therefore there are also misconceptions and confusions prevailing among the people. Hemant said that despite troubles in identifying the variant the state government has purchased a large number of testing machines which will be made operational soon and the overall testing capacity will be also increased in the state which will help to identify patients.

Significantly, taking lessons from the loopholes witnessed during second wave of Covid 19 pandemic, Chief Minister Hemant Soren  personally monitored every development and supervised the directing officials to establish child-friendly ICU beds with their walls painted with cartoons and animation-based characters. The districts are working on a war footing basis and PICUs are being developed in all the Sadar Hospitals and a few CHCs across the state.

The Chief Minister had in June this year directed all the officials to equip child wards in government hospitals with modern medical equipment. The aim is to make the treatment accessible at the doorstep even in rural areas and free of cost.

Apart from general children’s wards, dedicated wards are being developed across all the districts of Jharkhand. These wards are equipped with infant ventilators, pediatrics ventilators, Bubble CPAP, Radiant warmers, Oxygen supply facility and other necessary facilities.

After the directions from the Chief Minister, every district administration started working on the development of a dedicated child ward. Many districts have already completed the development of at least one such facility and are in the process of developing other units in rural parts of the state. Districts like Koderma, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Gumla, Latehar, Giridih have already completed the work related to PICUs.

In Ranchi, a 27-bed PICU ward has been completed, and work is in progress for at least 40 more PICU beds. In the East Singhbhum district, work for the development of 30 PICU beds is in progress. A 20-bed PICU facility has been completed in the Koderma district. Giridih and Hazaribag districts are developing 130-bed child ward facilities across different CHCs and Sadar Hospital of the district. The work for a 70 PICU bed facility is near completion in Dhanbad and Khunti districts.

Hemant Soren said, “Our government will not leave any stone unturned to create the best possible health infrastructure for our people and children.. We are trying our best to develop such a medical infrastructure across the state which will be witnessed for the first time in Jharkhand.”

Earlier upon arrival at his ancestral village the district administration gave him a guard of honour during which Ramgarh DC Madhavi Mishra and SP Prabhat Kumar were present.
