Jamshedpur, Aug. 13: East Singhbhum senior SP, Anoop T Mathew and other police officials on Sunday participated in the launching of the Jharkhand Dial 100 at the Crime Control Room (CCR) in Sakchi police station premises when chief minister Raghubar Das inaugurated the system on-line from the state police headquarters in Ranchi .
Shedding light on the people-friendly facility, deputy superintendent of police (CCR) Sudhir Kumar said it is a very innovative step and they are looking forward to make it success.
Though earlier occasion too there was the facility of seeking police assistance by dialling 100, the service has been enhanced.
“Earlier the 100 number used to be connected through BSNL and calls hardly used to get connected. But now we have an independent set up with a portal and server.
The response to a distress call will be attended soon as we have an automatic system installed for this purpose at Ranchi. Such calls will be channelized from the police headquarters in Ranchi ,” said Kumar.
Sharing more details about the system, the CCR DSP said that once 100 number is dialled, a voice will come “Welcome Jharkhand Dial 100″ followed by a direction to dial 9 (nine).
” It is simple to use.As soon as 9 number is dialled, the caller will be connected through the composit room at the police headquarters. The recipient of the call will as the caller location in a town or district for example like in Jamshedpur.
Accordingly, the recipient will order the CCR of the district concerned to swing into action. As we have a set up at CCR in Jamshedpur for this service round-the-clock, the officials at the CCR will direct the Police Control Room
(PCR) vans to reach at the spot as early as possible,” narrated the DSP.
He stated that at CCR Jamshedpur, there are 30 PCR vans — all fitted with GPS and wireless set.
He pointed out the officials sitting at the CCR control room will know the PCR van’s nearest location and will instruct them to reach the spot accordingly.
He said that the Tiger Mobile cops as well as the patrolling car will concentrate on the places where drugs and illicit liquor are consumed while at the same time will carry our surprise checking of the suspected criminals moving either on sports bike or in tinted car,” said the senior police officer.
Apart from focusing on snatchers the mobile cops will also pay special attention at the commercial banks.
Moreover, women cops will keep an eye on eve teasing at strategic places across the steel city.
The teams will work in tandem with tiger mobile jawans and officer incharge of local police stations.
