Jamshedpur, Sept 15: The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs cum members of the Divisional Committee comprising of Chakradharpur and Ranchi Divisions of South Eastern Railway (SER) held a meeting with Archana Joshi, General Manager, South Eastern Railway, at Jamshedpur on Thursday.
Altogether 10 MPs from Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha attended the meeting. The Divisional Committee Meeting was chaired by Bidyut Baran Mahato, MP, Jamshedpur.
Other MPs who attended the meeting were Sunil Kumar Singh, Geeta Kora, Sanjay Seth, Jyotirmay Singh Mahato, Nitesh Ganga Deb, Chandrani Murmu, Mamata Mohanta, Samir Oraon and Aditya Prasad.
The SER GM welcomed the MPs and thanked them for their consistent support and cooperation. The MPs appreciated the overall performance of SER and assured their cooperation for the smooth functioning of the railway.
During the session, the MPs advised the railway authority on various issues associated with train services, stoppages, cleanliness, expeditious completion of railway projects etc. for the benefit of the passengers. They have also offered their valuable suggestions for development of railway infrastructure over Ranchi and Chakradharpur Division. They laid emphasis on several passenger amenity works at different stations and restoration of Pre-Covid trains with usual stoppages. Discussions were also held on construction and completion of new lines, road over-bridges, underpasses, increase in frequency of trains, extension of service, up-gradation of stations and other issues.
The GM apprised the Parliamentarians of the performance of South Eastern Railway, both in freight and passenger sector for the current financial year. GM said that freight loading is consistently showing an upward trend and SER is giving special emphasis on coal loading. She also highlighted the services in respect of passenger amenities and environment friendly measures adopted by South Eastern Railway. General Manager stated that the suggestions offered by the MPs for development of passenger amenities and railway infrastructure would be reviewed with paramount importance.
Vijay Kumar Sahu, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Chakradharpur, Pradeep Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Ranchi and Principal Head of the Departments of South Eastern Railway also attended the meeting.
