Jharkhand: Longstanding para-teachers problems solved, now to be assistant teachers

Wage revised, service regularised and annual increment bonus announced 

Ranchi, December 14: Para teachers of the state will now be known as assistant teachers.

This decision was conveyed to a delegation of the Jharkhand State trained para teachers association on Tuesday during a meeting with chief minister Hemant Soren while they had sought appointment to discuss their longstanding demands.

The delegation extended heartfelt thanks to the Chief Minister and the education minister of the state, Jagarnath Mahto, for finding a solution to their problems which has been haunting them for last several years.

It is noteworthy that the state government will give 60 years of service regularisation to para teachers, 50 percent wage revision would be done for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualified para teachers and 40 percent to non-TET para teachers, 10 percent honorarium increment bonus after passing the assessment test, 4 percent salary hike per year.

The para teachers delegation welcomed the decision to make para teachers as assistant teachers and also the decision of the state government to pay regular honorarium from the plan item of the state government even if funds are not given for honorarium payment by the Union government.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the demands of para teachers could not be considered for the last several years, but keeping in view the pain and problems of para teachers, our government has worked to find a positive way to address the demands.

“There should be justice to all and all  para teachers are the people who work to give direction to the coming generation. Their role is important in the all round development of the state. This is the time to move forward by coordinating with the limited resources. The dream of a prosperous Jharkhand has to be realized by following the thoughts of respected Guruji Shibu Soren,” said Soren.
