Ranchi, may 11: In a bid to put the COVID-19 spread on a tighter leash, the Disaster Management Authority convened a meeting chaired by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
The Swasthya Suraksha Saptah lockdown period has been extended for a further period and will hold good till May 27. The rules have been tightened and interstate and intrastate movement norms will be tougher. Prior permission will be needed for going out of the state or for coming in. if a state resident leaves Jharkhand, a COVID negative report will have to be presented on return on the condition of which reentry will be permitted.
The Jharkhand government has decided to extend the lockdown by a further period of two weeks which entails that the promulgation will be effective till 6 am on Thursday, May 27. At a meeting of the Disaster Management Authority presided by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the extended Swasthya Suraksha Saptah that was to have ended on Thursday, May 13 at 6 am, has been extended by a further two weeks.
From May 16 commencing 6 am, in addition to the protocols in place, tougher guidelines will become effective. People coming in from other states will have to undergo seven days’ home or institutional quarantine without any letup to the rule. However, this rule will not be applicable to those who will leave Jharkhand within 72 hours of arrival.
From May 16, 6 am, all interstate and intrastate bus services will remain suspended. Private vehicles will be allowed such movement on the basis of e-passes.
Marriages will have to be held at homes or in courts with a maximum attendance of 11 persons. Any type of arrangement for such occasions has been banned. Physical distancing norms in Haat Bazaars will be strictly implemented.
The crucial meeting of the Jharkhand Disaster Management Authority was attended by Health and Disaster Management Minister Banna Gupta, Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Arun Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Rajiv Arun Ekka, Principal Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh and secretaries Vinay Kumar Chaubey and Amitabh Kaushal.
